All Digital Classroom books are thoroughly reviewed on both MacOS and Windows computers. If you believe you found an error that made it into the books and is not documented here, you can report errata to the authors using the form on the Contact Us page.

    Color Picker A new color picker was introduced after the book was published. The functionality has remained very similar but the design of the new color picker is quite different. Lesson 2, page 40, step 5 Step is incorrect as printed. After you click Save, click Done in the Manage Site dialog box. Lesson 2, page 42, step 3 The layout categories are incorrect as printed. They should be:
    < none > creates a blank HTML document without any pre-existing layout.
    2 column fixed, right sidebar, header and footer creates a document with a fixed width content area with two columns for content; a main column, sidebar, header and footer. This document includes instructions and sample text to demonstrate how to modify the file.
    3 column fixed, header and footer creates a document with a fixed width content area with three columns; a centered main column with left and right sidebars, a header and footer. This document also includes instructions and sample text to demonstrate how to modify the file. Lesson 2, page 46, step 4 The # symbol is missing in front of the digits.     Lesson 3, page 71, step 5 The code in this step is incorrect as written. The font-family listed should be listed as "Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" and not "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif". Lesson 3, page 87, step 1 Note that the last two sentences do not apply in the CS6 version of the software and only refer to earlier versions of Dreamweaver: "The 5-pixel border around the images turns blue. This border indicates that the image is linked." Lesson 12, page 300, step 2 The image of the left bracket is incorrect. The left bracket should be displayed as <.

    Lesson 6, page 205, step 7 Repeat step 6 for the Jam, Dance and Skip layers. To preserve the Bounce In ease behavior in the Bounce layer, move your cursor over the last frame of the tween span until a double-arrow appears; click and drag to extend the tween span to frame 165. All four layers should now be extended to frame 165.

    Lesson 2, page 45, Step 5 The step is confusing as printed. The following text should not be displayed in code font:

Lesson 2, page 49, Question 2 There should be a space at the end of the 'src' attribute. Lesson 4, Lesson files The 04_final.html file is absent from the DVD. You can download this file here. Lesson 5, Lesson Files The sidebar_bg image referenced in Lesson 5 is located in the Lesson 6 folder or you can download it here. Lesson 6, page 159, Step 11 The code is incorrect as printed. Replace the opening div element with "aside class". Lesson 10, page 253 The URL for the Lucidchart demo app has changed. The new link is here. Lesson 12, page 318, Step 9 There is a mistake in the code for the webkit-box display on the eighth line.     page 2, System requirements Some of the video tutorials reference supplemental lesson files. You can download the lesson files used in the video tutorials by clicking here. Lesson 6, page 208, Step 5 The step is incorrect as printed, as there is no keyframe in frame 20 of the lesson file. It should read as follows: Scroll horizontally until you reach frame 20. Right-click and choose Add Keyframe from the context menu to insert a keyframe. Press the Shift key to keep the keyframe from moving left or right, and click and drag the keyframe down to the baseline (0.0) of the Rotation Z row. Then, again holding the Shift key, click and drag it to the right to frame 30. The z rotation now begins at frame 30.

    Lesson 2, page 53, step 11 The hex color listed on page 53 should read 843432, as is shown in the illustration. Because of a typographical error, it incorrectly reads 83432. Lesson 9, page 235, step 2 This step should read as follows: The table in the center contains one row with two columns, each containing one image placeholder and one product title placeholder. Click on the edge of the table to select it. Lesson 12, page 294 The site setup instructions should reference the lesson 12 folder instead of lesson 13. Lesson 12, page 308, Step 13 Step 13 A: Select the .AccordionFocused .AccordionPanelTab style in the CSS Styles panel. This rule defines the appearance of the panel tabs when the panel is focused, (which is the state created when a user activates the panel by clicking on it.) The default style of this focused state is a shade of blue which doesn't fit in with the page design. So in this case, you will want it to match the background color you set in step 11.
    Click the color value for the background-color property and type #8CD031, then press enter/return to commit the change.
    Step 13 B: Select the .AccordionFocused .AccordionPanelOpen .AccordionPanelTab style. This rule defines the appearance of any panel tab that is open (for example when the user clicks on a specific tab to switch sections). Click on the color value for the background-color property and type #CF9 to set it to the same light green used in step 12.

    Lesson 11 There is a missing lesson file for the Flash CS4 Digital Classroom DVD Lesson 11.
    Get the missing Lesson 11 file for the Flash CS4 Digital Classroom. Lesson 7, page 195, Step 6 The skyPod logo must be converted from a graphic symbol to a movie clip symbol in order for the Fade and Focus preset to be applied. Select the first keyframe of the Logo layer. Click on the skyPod logo in the middle of the Stage to select it. From the top of the Property Inspector, use the pull-down menu to choose Movie Clip instead of Graphic (symbol). Then apply the Fade and Focus preset as directed in Step 6. Lesson 7, page 211, Step 5 The step is incorrect as printed, as there is no keyframe in frame 20 of the lesson file. It should read as follows: Scroll horizontally until you reach frame 20. Right-click and choose Add Keyframe from the context menu to insert a keyframe. Press the Shift key to keep the keyframe from moving left or right, and click and drag the keyframe down to the baseline (0.0) of the Rotation Z row. Then, again holding the Shift key, click and drag it to the right to frame 30. The z rotation now begins at frame 30. Lesson 11, page 295, Step 5 The step is incomplete as printed. The step should read: The graphics from the Up keyframe will be duplicated; take a moment to make some changes, such as color, to this copy to make it distinctive from the Up frame.
    Note: You may need to ungroup the box and the arrow to change their individual properties. Select the graphics and ungroup by choosing Modify > Ungroup. Add a keyframe to the Over state to design a unique look for your button when the mouse pointer rolls over it. Lesson 15, page 400, step 6 The step should read: Click the HTML tab to view the options for the HTML file that you are publishing. By default, Template is set to display Flash only. Click the Info button to the right of the Template drop down menu to view the description of the current template. For Flash Only, the Info pop-up explains that this template will display Adobe Flash movies using SWFObject to detect if the correct version of Flash Player is installed. Close the pop-up after you have reviewed the description. Lesson 15, page 406, step 5 This step is incorrect and may be skipped. In earlier versions of Flash, there was a Maintain Aspect Ratio checkbox. However, in Flash CS4, aspect ratio is maintained by default. If necessary, aspect ratio can be changed by clicking QuickTIme Settings in the lower left.

Lesson 1, page 29, step 7 The step to show edges is not necessary as it was performed in Step 5 of this exercise. Lesson 2, page 34, beneath the first figure Note that the Panel workspace has been removed from the final version of Illustrator CS4 and the Type workspace has been renamed Typography. You can achieve the same effect as the Panel workspace by choosing the Expand Panels icon (double arrows) at the upper right corner of the Panel dock or by choosing another wokspace such as Like InDesign or Like Photoshop. Lesson 2, page 47, second paragraph The default workspace in the final shipping version of Illustrator CS4 is the Essentials Workspace. Lesson 3, page 75, step 7 The keyboard shortcut to deselect all objects is Shift+Ctrl+A (Windows) or Shift+Command+A (Mac OS). Lesson 4, page 100, step 2 Depending on the current active color, the color panel will look different from the figure in the book. If you don't see the full color ramp at the bottom of the Color panel, choose CMYK from the panel menu. Lesson 5, page 131, Lesson 5, step 4 Drag the Smooth tool back and forth across the jagged part of the line between labels 5 and 6. Lesson 6, page 153, step 2 Due to varying monitor resolutions, you may not see the Transform text at the far right of the Control panel. If your monitor resolution does not display this, click the panel menu in the Control panel and choose Transform to display the Transform text in the Control panel or simply choose Window > Transform to open the Transform panel. Lesson 7, page 177, step 3, paragraph 2 When you draw, place or paste an object onto the Illustrator artboard, a new sublayer is created for it. This new sublayer appears in the active layer and at the very top of the stacking order within the active layer. Lesson 9, page 200 The caption should indicate that Stylize > Scribble is available from the Effect menu. Lesson 9, Page 210, step 6 The file referenced in this step is on the DVD and is titled ai0901_styles.ai. Open this file and proceed with the lesson. Lesson 10, page 220, step 1 Select the stroke in Appearance panel. Lesson 10, page 223, step 2 Prior to choosing a Harmony Rule from the drop-down menu, you may need to click the Set Base Color to the Current Color button in the upper-left corner of the Color Guide panel so that the harmony rules display the correct colors.
